Berlin food: top Restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg
Letzte Aktualisierung: 27.11.2023
I’ll probably never make it to have been eating at all the restaurants in Berlin and probably not even in Prenzlauer Berg (there is just too much Berlin food out there), but at least I finally made it in the restaurant „Der Hahn ist tot!.
It’s been a while since this restaurant came into my mind but it took a long time to finally go there. When I wanted to go out with two friends it was just the right moment to take the chance and invite them into this top restaurant in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg. So I called and reserved a table for three.
And this I can already say: for me it is definitely of the top restaurants in Berlin.
The menu: short but very promising. A red pepper cream soup or oysters are what you can choose as a starter. Both come with bread, butter and cream cheese.
For main course you have to choose between four options. At the time we went there it was: fillet of black Butt, asparagus with tarragon hollandaise sauce, coq au vin or steak fries. Even when these are not many options, it was hard to decide because it all sounded that good.
Finally we ordered three different dishes so that we all could taste as much as possible. Smart, right?
At first we got a big bowl of fresh salad with strawberries and asparagus. This was so delicious. Than the main courses was served.
The hollandaise sauce with tarragon which was part of the asparagus dish was stunning and the coq au vin just incredibly tender and flavorful. Also the steak fries – oh my gosh, all of it was fantastic!
As the dessert is always important for me, I was happy to get a small glas auf mousse au chocolat in the end.
Beside the dishes also the staff was fantastic: Attentive and friendly. We have really felt welcomed.
And now the best thing about this top Restaurant: As we are used to it, Berlin food isn’t expensive even when it’s high quality. So this amazing 3-course-menu cost only 21 € per person excl. drinks. Believe me, it is more than worth it.
So I’ll come back for sure!
